Morning Session (9:00 - 12:00):
- Trends and Updates in IRS Audits & FinCEN Regulatory Changes
In recent IRS audits, there has been additional scrutiny on the adequacy of the compliance programs (or Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Programs) of the casinos. Therefore, this session will also highlight what items should be included in a comprehensive compliance program. Upon reviewing what information should be included in a compliance program, training and testing requirements of employees will be discussed through lecture and class discussion of best practices. The increased emphasis on risk assessments by regulatory agencies will also be addressed.
Afternoon Session (1:00 - 4:30):
- Suspicious Activity Reporting: How to Identify and Report
This session will cover key elements in an effective suspicious activity reporting program, including identification of high risk areas, gaming floor and surveillance monitoring of high risk areas, and identification of patterns of suspicious activity by your audit department. We will also provide guidance for writing narratives, and will include practice problems allowing attendees to immediately apply learned techniques. Class discussions will cover common reasons for non-compliance with suspicious activity reporting, and tips to provide for better compliance. The case studies will reinforce attendees’ ability to effectively identify and report suspicious activity.
